NOTE : GCR Club Championship Races 2011
What is the significance of the races which we nominate as GCR "Club Championship" events ? - other than the fact that placings in these contribute towards your Avery Trophy total, along with the league races. Is the idea to encourage runners to turn out for races which they might not otherwise support ? And if so, what's the incentive to do so ? - when there's no prize and not even an announcement of who are the club champions.<\p>
Trophies are to be awarded to first GCR male and female in each of the three main Championship races :
10K (Standalone),
Half Marathon (Stevenage)
Full Marathon (London or Halstead)
- regardless of age category. 6 awards in all.
The trophies are to be presented at the Awards Night.
This will apply from the 2011 season onwards (i.e. not retrospectively awarded for 2010 at the next Awards night)
The remaining open events listed as "club championships" will be so purely for the purpose of the Avery totals (FVS 5K, FVS 5 miles, Ware 10, Oakley 20).
